Project Overview

St Clere’s School is an academy located in Stanford-le-Hope, Essex. CTC Building Services Ltd was appointed to convert a disused gymnasium and adjoining storage area into a modern, functional study space for sixth form students.

The project required a complete transformation of the existing space, delivering a flexible learning environment within a tight six-week programme.

Scope of Works

CTC managed both the design and installation elements of the project, coordinating all trades to deliver a high-quality educational space. Works included:

Fabrication and installation of a new mezzanine level
Blockwork construction to form a new seminar room
Design and installation of power and data systems
Heating, emergency lighting, and general lighting design and installation
Construction of a specialist tiered seating (staged seating) area
Creation of a kitchenette area
Supply and installation of soft furnishings throughout

Delivery & Site Management

All works were carried out while the school remained operational, with students present on site throughout the programme. CTC implemented rigorous safety procedures and careful planning to minimise disruption and always ensure the safety of staff and students.

The project was successfully completed within the six-week programme.

Outcome

The completed space provides St Clere’s School with a modern, flexible study environment tailored specifically for sixth form use. The transformation of the former gymnasium has created a high-quality learning and social space that supports independent study, collaboration, and student wellbeing.
